This essay establishes the empirical linkages between globalization and urban economic growth through the ICT (information and communications technology) sector, and offers new evidence for the positive contributions of the ICT sector as a major source of economic globalization and a determinant of urban economic growth in Bangalore. Empirical results show a remarkable performance by Bangalore compared to all‐India and international levels, driven by ICT services and growth effects. Overall results offer empirical bases for continuing with and strengthening public policies for the promotion of a growth‐oriented ICT sector and economic globalization in Bangalore as well as in comparable Indian and Asian cities. However, the results and conclusions are qualified by limitations of economic data and unincorporated non‐economic factors.
