Spotlight On: Africa’s Urban Futures Forum

Nov 23rd, 2022

We invite you to join us for an online forum organised by the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research with support from the Department of Geography and Environment at LSE.

Join us on Wednesday 7 December 2022 at 3.00 – 4.30pm (GMT) as six scholars from across Africa reflect on the continent’s urban futures. This discussion will build on the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research’s (IJURR) recently published Spotlight On Africa’s Urban Futures, which includes six essays showcasing the exciting new directions that urban research is taking in Africa.

Authors Divine Asafo, Liza Cirolia, Claudia Gastrow, Prince Guma, and Wangui Kimari will each discuss their contributions on incremental environmentalism, the politics of urban aesthetics, the lived experience of the entrepreneurial city, the possibilities and challenges of digital infrastructures, and the nature of the urban state and peri-urban land markets.
