Authors meet Critics 2017
The fifth edition of Authors Meet Critics will take place in the first half of 2017 and foresees a series of online seminars of approximately two hours each with one (or more) of the leading authors who published relevant contributions in the last few years. During this period the participants will be able to ask questions, make comments and discuss the specific essay published in the Journal or in the book series with the author(s). It provides an important opportunity to engage in an international scientific exchange on theoretical and empirical work in the field of urban studies.
This year’s authors include Tahire Erman, Justus Uitermark, Walter Nicholls, Jonathan Silver, Ilse van Liempt, Irina van Aalst, Peter Marcuse, Alex Loftus, Hug March, Bjørn Sletto and Anja Nygren. Applications for Authors meet Critics 2017 are now open.
Timing and process
The exact timetable will be defined as soon as the teaching commitments of the scholars involved have been determined and the participants selected. A moderator will facilitate the communication flows. Seminars will be open to a maximum number of 20 participants worldwide.
- PhD candidates or PhDs in the early stages of their career in the fields of social or political sciences, humanities, liberal arts or economics, geography or planning, etc.
- outstanding academic results and/or rich research experience;
- evidence of a good working knowledge of English;
- full internet access;
- Strong motivation to participate in an International online seminar on the issues at stake.
The deadline for sending applications is: 31 January 2017. Applicants will be informed about the selection results by e-mail by the 7th of February 2017. A test chat will take place the week before the start. You can fill in the application form here.
